Parks & Trails
Parks, paths, and trails are as much a part of the Verrado community experience as the surrounding mountains. From sunrise to sunset, from community parks to paths and hiking trails, Verrado’s outdoor spaces offer a welcome retreat and a setting for your choice of endless recreational activities. With parks and trails drawing visitors from the nearby Phoenix and Buckeye areas, Verrado’s outdoor spaces are the ideal place for neighbors to gather and children to play, just outside your own front door.
Currently, there are 50 uniquely designed neighborhood parks throughout Verrado. Each park has its own individual character – in fact, many residents often associate themselves with their neighboring parks, identifying their home’s location as part of the Cottonwood Grove neighborhood or Poet’s Park community, for example. Walk-able and inviting, our parks are thoughtfully arranged so that Verrado homes are about two blocks from the nearest neighborhood park.
Verrado’s parks vary in size, with some smaller, more intimate parks best suited for family get-togethers, playtime with pets, or quiet relaxation, while larger parks provide a venue for Verrado events. Larger community parks, like Founders Park and Walton Park, gather neighbors together to celebrate the Fourth of July, enjoy the annual Founder’s Day event, or catch a Little League game.
Paths and Trails
In addition to its 50 community parks, Verrado offers 21 miles of paths and trails for Verrado residents and visitors in the Phoenix and Buckeye region. Six miles of pathways span the community, connecting neighborhoods to one another for easy walking, running, or biking accessibility. The additional 15 miles of trails begin right inside the Verrado community and venture into the White Tank Mountains and Buckeye area. Several trailheads will help you to explore the landscape and take in the beautiful flora and fauna of the Sonoran Desert. Whether you are a casual hiker or a serious mountain biker, you can download our Verrado trail maps before you set out to enjoy the scenic beauty of our community.
White Tank Mountain Regional Park
Maricopa County’s largest park, the spectacular White Tank Mountain Regional Park offers 30,000 acres of additional Phoenix and Buckeye park and trail terrain. With more than 20 miles of shared-use trails, White Tank Mountain Regional Park offers even more choices for jogging, hiking, mountain biking, or sunset trail rides in addition to Verrado’s community parks and trails.
Residents and visitors also enjoy the Nature Center and Library in White Tank Mountain Regional Park, filled with resources and programs that help parents and kids alike experience and interact with the environment. Through engaging special events like snake feedings and animal spotlighting adventures, the park and its programs make it easy for residents to get in touch with nature, and their neighbors.
